The Tool That Makes Pre-K Lesson Planning So Much Easier

When I reflect on teaching, one of the biggest time drains was planning lessons that fit all the things we know kids need: play-based, culturally responsive, literacy-rich, SEL-focused, and still practical for every center.

I made the Pre-K Inclusive Play & Literacy Planner because this is the tool I wish I had. It pulls together CRL and SEL ideas for every center in seconds, which means less time searching for materials and trying to think through all the pieces. It’s built using ChatGPT, but you don’t need a paid account to use it. Once you open the link, you can start typing prompts right away.

Here’s what it does when you type in a theme, book, or SEL goal:

  • Suggests a literacy activity connected to lived experiences and CRL practices
  • Gives an SEL discussion prompt
  • Shares ideas for all the major centers (art, math, science, dramatic play, etc.)
  • Offers small-group adaptations for beginner, mid, and advanced learners
  • Includes scaffolding tips for multilingual learners, speech needs, and behavioral supports

The best part is that it’s fast. I don’t have time to spend hours researching activity ideas, and I know I’m not alone. With this planner, you can type something as simple as “I’m reading The Day You Begin and want an activity about belonging” and get a full set of activity suggestions to build from.

Here’s an example of what it came up with for culturally responsive play-based garden theme activities:
